New Mexico EV ownership guide
Understanding electricity rates in New Mexico
VoltSaga uses an estimated statewide residential rate of $0.141/kWh. That keeps the comparison useful across New Mexico, but your bill may differ because utilities set local tariffs and many plans use time-of-use pricing. Charging overnight on an off-peak plan can be materially less expensive than the statewide average.
For an apples-to-apples comparison, the calculator uses a typical gas vehicle rated at 27 MPG and a New Mexico gasoline planning price of $3.09 per gallon. It does not include insurance, financing, registration fees, tire wear, or home-charger installation.
