Charging cost
Monthly EV energy use equals monthly miles divided by the selected model's miles-per-kWh efficiency. Home charging cost equals that energy use multiplied by the selected state's estimated residential electricity rate. A 20% to 80% session uses 60% of the stated battery capacity.
Gas comparison
The comparison uses a 27 MPG reference gasoline vehicle and an estimated state gasoline price. It is intended to isolate energy cost; it does not model vehicle price, insurance, financing, depreciation, charging losses, parking, registration, or every maintenance item.
Rates, vehicles, and incentives
State electricity and gasoline figures are rounded planning averages informed by public energy-market reporting, including EIA-style residential rate and motor-fuel data. Vehicle battery and efficiency figures are representative configurations. Incentive summaries are directional descriptions of commonly cited federal and state programs and should be verified with the IRS, state agency, utility, or program administrator before purchase.
